Sacyr, through Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure, has signed a deal with the Ministry of Transport and Communication’s Provías Nacional to recondition and improve 77 kilometers of the Mollepata – Santiago de Chuco highway in the Libertad region of Peru. The contract amounts to nearly 95 million euros (116 million dollars). 

Construction will be carried out at elevations ranging from 2,600 to 3,400 meters above sea level and will include reconditioning and, in certain sections, widening of the roadway, which involves paving with hot asphalt, in addition to the construction of seven bridges, gutters, culverts, and other features. 

The project is slated to begin in January 2021 and will take two years to complete. 
 

The UK firm, Emitwise, is the winner of the 10th Edition of the Sacyr Awards for Innovation. The Sacyr Foundation recognized the proposal submitted by the UK startup as the best solution to one of the four challenges posed by Sacyr as part of its Sacyr iChallenges program: Carbon footprint measuring and reporting for Scope 3. 

Sacyr also highlighted the quality of the top 12 proposals recived as part of the Sacyr iChallenges program and awarded second prize to the Spanish firm, Detektia, for its project to anticipate the geotechnical behavior of terrain.  

Emitwise’s solution uses machine learning to monitor and manage Scope 3 carbon emissions in real time through a cloud platform. 

Scope 3 includes indirect emissions that occur in the value chain of the reporting company. The other two innovators with the best solutions to emissions measurement were Ártabro Tech (Spain) and One Click LCA (Finland).

Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure has been awarded the BREEAM sustainability certification for the Badalona H20 housing development that it built on behalf of Kronos in Badalona (Barcelona).

The BREEAM sustainable certification guarantees that the design, construction and maintenance of a building considers the environmental, economic and social impact it will have on its environment throughout its useful life. Furthermore, this certification is closely aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

The Kronos Badalona H2O housing project has 252 homes, commercial premises and two stories of underground parking. Sacyr began construction in 2018 and recently completed the project. 

• Amid the complex global scenario caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Sacyr's businesses have improved turnover, EBITDA, and profitability. This shows the strength of the multinational's strategy, focusing on concession assets.
• Sacyr has covered the cost of the recent Panama Canal ruling regarding the basalt and concrete formula. Its strong financial situation allows it to pay the amount stipulated in the ruling using its own cash reserves, without compromising current projects or growth plans.
• The Board of Directors has approved the distribution of a scrip dividend of one share for every 33 securities. In 2020, the dividend yield is above 4%. 

 In an extremely demanding context due to the global crisis caused by Covid-19, Sacyr increased EBITDA between January and September by 7.2% to 527 million euros. 

This increase reflects the strength of the multinational's business model, which focuses on the concession business, with low demand risk. Thanks to this, the company did not suffer any major impacts resulting from the pandemic during the third quarter of the year.  78% of EBITDA has come from concessions businesses in its three major business areas: Concessions, Engineering, and Infrastructure and Services. 
 

Sacyr has signed a contract of sale with the Angolan group Griner to sell its three subsidiaries: Sacyr Somague Angola, Sacyr Somague Mozambique and CVC Sacyr Somague in Cape Verde. This deal is worth over 33 million euros (not including debt). lt is subject to the usual approvals by the competition authorities for these types of operations.

This deal is part of Sacyr's strategy to reduce the risk of building in non-strategic markets and to focus its activity on concessions in its key markets. Concessions already account for nearly 80 percent of the group's EBITDA. 

Sacyr’s Board of Directors has approved the new Sustainability Policy Framework, which supersedes the existing Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. The Policy Framework ensures that all group activities promote the creation of long-term value for the company, our shareholders and every stakeholder and comply with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The new Policy—advocated by the Board, the body responsible for approving the multinational’s sustainability policies—creates an adequate framework for Sacyr to position sustainability as the cornerstone of its Strategic Plan.

The Sustainability and Corporate Governance Commission and the Sustainability Committee are tasked with proposing, implementing, and supervising all initiatives undertaken by the group in this field.

With its efforts in sustainability and its collaborations with stakeholders, Sacyr aims to fight climate change, promote diversity, and facilitate a work/life balance, while safeguarding health and safety and ensuring a positive social impact.

The third edition of the Sacyr iChallenges program has been well received, closing the submission phase with a total of 270 proposals, 40% more than the 192 received in the last edition.

In total, Sacyr iChallenges received proposals from 39 countries, including Spain with 73 new submissions, the United States with 30, and the United Kingdom with 20. Moreover, in Latin America, where Sacyr has a large presence, the company received 26 proposals from Colombia, Chile, Peru, and Mexico.

Sacyr iChallenges is one of the pillars of Sacyr’s digital transformation and innovation strategy, based on a commitment to teamwork and joint creation with innovators on a global scale.

With this open innovation program, Sacyr is looking for partners with whom to promote sustainable solutions that improve the quality of citizens’ lives through better infrastructure and services.

In this edition of Sacyr iChallenges, four business challenges are posed: i) to automate site monitoring, ii) to anticipate the geotechnical behavior of terrain, iii) to measure and report the carbon footprint of Scope 3, and iv) Vision Zero for lane closures.

The Sacyr Foundation has established collaboration agreements with various NGOs to address the urgent need for basic essentials triggered by COVID-19 in Latin America.

The collaboration initially extends to four countries—Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Chile—where Sacyr operates and already collaborates with several non-governmental organisations.

According to Manuel Manrique, chairman of the Sacyr Foundation, cooperation in development is one of the main goals of the Sacyr Foundation. “This goal is even more important in the current health crisis. Through the different initiatives we have underway, we aim to provide a quality of life to people in vulnerable situations,” the chairman said.

Sacyr has picked up its second “Calculo-Reduzco” (Calculate-Reduce) seal, a distinction granted by the Spanish Climate Change Office (OECC) of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, for reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its activities in Spain.

Sacyr managed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 12.63%, in intensity terms, for scopes 1+2 in the three-year period 2017-2019 compared to 2016-2018. 

The “Calculo-Reduzco” seal is granted to organizations that calculate and record their carbon footprint for a minimum of four years, have a plan to reduce their GHG emissions, and bring this reduction commitment to fruition, with validation by the Ministry.  

The company's divisions—Concessions, Engineering and Infrastructure and Services—achieved profits of €108 million, compared to €47 million during the same period of 2019. This increase is in addition to a 100-basis-point rise in profitability to 16.7%.

The company has begun operations in the new normal without any significant impact. This showcases the success of the business model of the multinational, which generates around 80% of its EBITDA through concession-related assets with low demand risk.

The company's backlog of future revenue comes to €39.445 billion.

Sacyr promotes sustainability as one of its key pillars and strategic objectives. To that end, its corporate governance is fortified with a Sustainability and Corporate Governance Committee, attached to the Board of Directors, and a Sustainability Committee.

 Sacyr increased its EBITDA by 10.4% to €348 million in the first half of 2020, a period marked by the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,  thanks to the robustness of its business model, which is becoming increasingly oriented toward concessions. In fact, 77% of its EBITDA came from the concession activity of its three major business areas: Concessions, Engineering and Infrastructure and Services.

Sacyr actively managed the situation in order, first and foremost, to protect its more than 40,000 employees worldwide. In addition, it ensured the continuity of its operations, some of which are considered essential or of public interest.

During the period, the multinational embarked upon the new normal in almost all of its operations without having recorded major impacts. Nevertheless, in March the Group made a precautionary provision of €30 million in the face of the uncertainty surrounding the evolution of the pandemic.

Revenues grew 3.5% between January and June, reaching €2.079 billion. This increase amounts to 8% relative to the size of the company, given the divestment of various assets during the last few months: Guadalcesa, generation and cogeneration plants, and various water-related assets in Portugal. The EBITDA posted (+10.4%) would increase by 19% if these asset disposals were discounted. 

Improved profitability

The net profit generated by the businesses reflects the positive performance of the three divisions of Sacyr despite COVID-19. It stood at €108 million, compared to €47 million in the first half of 2019.

The group's attributable net profit was €70 million, less than the €80 million achieved in the same period last year. Net profit was impacted by the profits and stock-market performance of Repsol, in which Sacyr owns a stake. The oil company's contribution to Sacyr's profits was -€18 million. The book value of Repsol was €8.66/share as at June 30th, 2020.

Sacyr improved the profitability of its businesses in the first half of the year, thus delivering on one of the company's priority objectives. The EBITDA margin was up 100 basis points reaching 16.7%. 

The Sacyr Foundation has donated a van to Asociación Aleph-TEA, a non-profit association.

The Sacyr Foundation has donated a van to Asociación Aleph-TEA, a non-profit association formed by the families of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The donated vehicle—which previously belonged to Sacyr Social—was restored to pristine condition and adapted for people with reduced mobility before it was handed over to the association.

This collaboration with the association falls under one of the objectives of the Sacyr Foundation: cooperation for the development of disadvantaged groups It is also aligned with Guideline 3 of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plan: Promote the ethical values and principles of Sacyr in the Plan Empresa Global 2020 (2020 Global Business Plan).

Sacyr has approved seven corporate policies that promote its sustainability strategy and step up its collaboration with its stakeholders.

These sustainability policies include specific measures in relation to biodiversity; water; climate change; data security; human rights; occupational health and safety; and quality, environment and energy management.

In March, with the aim of strengthening its corporate governance bodies in their commitment to a more sustainable future, Sacyr created a Sustainability and Corporate Governance Committee, attached to the Board of Directors, and a Sustainability Committee.

• The stretch accounts for 27% of the total length of the infrastructure project, one of the four fourth generation roads that the multinational is building in the country with a managed investment of EUR 2.2 billion.
• The 80 km road between Rumichaca and Pasto will improve connectivity with the Ecuador border.

 Concesionaria Vial Unión del Sur, led by Sacyr Concessions, has made the first section of the 4G road project between Rumichaca and Pasto (Colombia) operational. This 16.9 kilometre stretch of dual carriageway between Tangua and Catambuco together with 5.2 km of improvements between Catambuco and Pasto is 27% of the total length of the project.

The project includes the construction of a second 83 kilometre road between Pasto (capital of the Nariño Department) and Rumichaca (a town on the border with Ecuador), which will increase the country's competitiveness, the region's connectivity and boost the economic and social development of the communities in the area of influence. The planned construction investment is EUR 690 million.

Today, Sacyr announced the launch of the third edition of Sacyr iChallenges, its open innovation and co-creation program aimed at overcoming, together with the innovating community, four business challenges set by the company.

The call is open to any innovator who can provide solutions to the different challenges defined by Sacyr. Technology companies, universities, research centers, start-ups, etc. can participate. Prospective applicants must submit their proposal through the website www.sacyrichallenges.com by September 10, 2020. The call is global, but is aimed at Spain and Latin America in particular.

.- Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sacyr has made every possible effort to protect its 40,000-plus employees worldwide and to ensure the continuity of its business activities, some of which are considered essential or of public interest. In fact, Sacyr has doubled down and is now working tirelessly with government bodies and the authorities in fighting this disease, none more so than the Services division.

Sacyr is taking the necessary steps to resolve the situation and minimize its impact. According to the latest estimates, this situation has not impaired the company's normal course of business, although changes have been made to keep up with the rapidly changing landscape resulting from the crisis.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, the first quarter results demonstrate the strength of Sacyr's business, which is now heavily focused on the concession business and assets carrying low traffic risk.

Donations in Spain, Portugal, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay for the purchase of health equipment.

Donation of food. Cafestore, the manager of the group’s service areas, has delivered more than 2,000 kg of food to associations or foundations involved in this issue. Donations have been made in Valencia, Vitoria, Mollina (Malaga), Arroyo de la Miel (Malaga), Tudela (Navarra) and Cabezón de la Sal (Cantabria).

We have also participated in Colombia with the donation of food baskets.

Hospital concessions. Sacyr Concessions, which manages seven hospitals in Spain, Portugal, Chile and Mexico, has carried out all actions available to it to deal with this crisis in the two centers located in the epicenter of the disease: Infanta Cristina University Hospital (Parla) and Henares University Hospital (Coslada):

• Increase of more than 100 bedsto cope with the rise in patients, increasing their number to 150% of those that existed before this crisis;
• Purchase of many items of equipment and strengthening of the workforce as a result of this expansion, with more porters and cleaning staff.
• Strengthening of TIGAs [Transporte Interno y Gestión Auxiliar, Internal Transport and Auxiliary Management] in hospitals and inpatient hotels: 26 new people hired. (03/26)
• Strengthening of cleaning staff: 11 new people hired (03/26)
• Overtime by all staff, including maintenance and concession staff.
• Purchase of patient beds (around 90) plus acceptance of hotel beds. Purchase of 21 ICU beds, purchase of all required equipment: flowmeters, bedside tables, IV stands, stretchers, Pyxis, etc.
• Waste, laundry, catering: increased services due to greater volume of waste, clothing, hospital stays and on-call doctors, increased cleaning products and bathroom supplies, etc.
• Free TV in all rooms since before being requested by the Autonomous Community of Madrid
• Incorporation of personnel in the hotels fitted out to care for patients, one in Parla and one in Coslada.
• Full-time management of the crisis with the hospital’s clinical management; they have delegated any necessary infrastructure actions to our teams.
• Additionally, due to the current situation, a working group between the Spain and Portugal facilities has been created to share the measures taken in Madrid with our colleagues in Braga, Vila Franca and the Azores. It has joined forces with the transport interchanges team, which is also taking action on its facilities to prevent any contagion among its users.

Parking spaces. Sacyr Concessions has made free spaces available in the parking garage at Calle Daoiz y Velarde (Madrid) to health workers who need them.  It is also keeping the Moncloa (Madrid) parking garage open and free of charge for health personnel who need it.

Rent holidays. Sacyr Concessions has granted rent holidays to tenants of commercial premises in the hospitals and interchanges that it manages and in the Setas de Sevilla.

At Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid. The Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure team is promoting initiatives to increase the number of beds in the hospital. It has already increased capacity by more than 49 beds. The first action was taken in just 24 hours: in the oncology block, an area was repurposed to accommodate 28 new admission beds.

The second was the repurposing of the library, which is located in the surgical block, to provide 21 new ICU beds. We are also continuing to work on new actions to provide up to 60 new beds in addition to those created in the hospital in areas adjacent to the library.

Sacyr has decided to restructure its corporate organization chart by merging its two EPC areas (Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures and Sacyr Industrial) into one. In so doing, the group's operational divisions will be reduced to three: Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures, Sacyr Concessions and Sacyr Services.

This simplifying of the operational structure, which must be ratified by Sacyr’s governance bodies in the coming weeks, is perfectly in line with Sacyr’s strategic agenda to once again become a group with a distinct concessions profile, with the contribution of two large divisions (Engineering and Infrastructures, and Services) that facilitate a more efficient vertical integration of the business for customers.

In addition, this simplification of the structure will lead to greater synergies between the three areas, higher profits due to the economies of scale and, as such, increased efficiency.

Large industrial projects

Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures will absorb the Sacyr Industrial division, along with the wealth of experience it has accumulated in recent years.

Many successful projects have been executed, such as the La Pampilla refinery in Peru, the Cartagena de Indias regasification plant in Colombia, gas projects in Bolivia and Peru, industrial plants in Bolivia and Ecuador, the Sohar desalination plant in Oman, the Melbourne waste treatment plant and the NAIS irrigation network in Australia.

Merging to create one division with greater capacities will provide momentum for the construction activities of renewable energy plants and those related to the circular economy (water engineering, particularly desalination, urban solid waste recycling and treatment, reuse of materials, etc.) in which Sacyr has cutting-edge technologies. It will also continue to carry out its engineering activity and execute its turnkey projects at its oil and gas plants and across its electricity networks.

This new organizational model, which is more streamlined, compact and totally geared toward the group’s long-term objectives (increasing profitability and economic, financial and environmental sustainability), will continue to influence the control of risks across all stages of the group’s projects and the generation of cash flow.

Sacyr has been strengthening its corporate governance bodies as a further show of its commitment to a more sustainable future.  More precisely, it has set up a Sustainability and Corporate Governance Committee, attached to the Board of Directors, and a Sustainability Committee. 

With these new committees, Sacyr is aiming to make further progress in sustainability and in collaborating with all its stakeholders in the fight against climate change as well as in fostering diversity and a proper work-life balance, safeguarding health and safety and promoting the positive social impact of its activities. 

Sacyr achieved an EBITDA of €680 million in 2019, up by 25% compared with the previous financial year. Revenue grew by 10% over the year, to €4.17 billion.

The net profit generated by the businesses was €120 million (+48%), but the group’s share of net income was -€298 million, due to the impact of -€354 million caused by the holding in Repsol. This is exclusively an accounting impact, which does not affect the company’s cash flow, the operation of the businesses, the dividend or the group’s strategy. The active management of derivatives that protect the participation in Repsol has allowed monetizing more than 70 million euros of cash for the group.

In 2019, Sacyr made progress in the achievement of all its objectives. Sacyr placed the focus on the concessionary businesses, and this is reflected in its income statement: 80% of EBITDA, amounting to €538 million, came from concessionary activities in the past year.

In addition, the growth of the main indicators was accompanied in 2019 by an improvement in the profitability of the businesses, which is another of Sacyr’s key objectives. The EBITDA margin increased by two percentage points over the year, reaching 16.3%.

The deal is initially for the second round of the 2019-20 season beginning tomorrow, February 5, and the next season from 2020 to 2021.    

The agreement includes using Sacyr’s name for all the competitions organized by ASOBAL: Liga, Copa, Supercopa and Minicopa. The new image will be used for all the brand’s marketing and media, and will also feature in the broadcasts of matches on the TV channel, GOL.  
 
The partnership’s aim is to extend the reach of the Spanish league and this sport, which has around 100,000 registered players and is a key part of society in many cities around the country. 
 
Greater commitment 
 
For Sacyr, being title sponsor for the league is an opportunity for its to strengthen its commitment to a sport that it has been linked with since 2015. In recent years, the multinational sponsored the Spanish Royal Handball Federation.  
 
Over the same period, the Spanish international women’s team, known as “las Guerreras”, achieved great success including placing second in the World Championship. Meanwhile, the men’s team, “los Hispanos”, claimed the European title on January 26, which it also won in 2018.    
 
A top competition in Europe 
 
ASOBAL was established in 1984 by 13 clubs and the first ASOBAL League was held in 1990-91. Some 16 clubs now compete in a championship that runs over a total of 30 days. 
 
Wednesday February 5 sees the start of the second round of the 2019-20 season with a match between Bidasoa Irun and ABANCA Ademar León, one of the most attractive of the competition as the teams in second and third place in the league clash.  
 
All Sacyr ASOBAL League matches are broadcast through the LaLigaSportsTV app and one is shown each week on the freeview channel, GOL. In total, 56 league matches, a Supercup and three ASOBAL Cups were broadcast in the first round.  
 
During the second round of the league, handball fans will be treated to watching five European champions who played for Spain: Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas, Raúl Entrerríos, Aitor Ariño, Aleix Gómez (all playing for Barça) and Adrià Figueras (Fraikin BM. Granollers).  
 
The Sacyr ASOBAL League is one of the top competitions in the world. It includes Barça: the team that has won most Champions ever with nine cups in its trophy cabinet. There are also two teams competing in the EHF Champions League: Barça and Bidasoa; and three in the EHF Cup: ABANCA Ademar León, BM. Logroño La Rioja and Liberbank Cuenca.

Sacyr Infrastructures and Engineering has begun construction work on lot 1 of line 2, also known as the green line, between Vila Prudente and Dutra. The 7.3 km.-long section is being built for the company Metropolitano de Sâo Paulo, Brazil.

The work has begun following the signing of the service order by the Sâo Paulo Governor, Joâo Doria, and the Secretary of Metropolitan Transport, Alexandre Baldy.

The consortium, consisting of Sacyr Infrastructures and Engineering, Galvâo Engenharia and SA Paulista, will carry out the project with a budget of 443.2 million euros (1.9 billion Brazilian reals) and a construction period of 69 months.

The works will benefit the more than 300,000 daily users of the Sâo Paulo metro.

Tunnels, ventilation shafts and the Vila Formosa station

The contract includes the construction of a double-track tunnel of 7.8 km in length and 11.69 m in diameter with an EPB tunnel boring machine; a set of tunnels of 1.8 km in length for parking trains to be executed using the Austrian method; the Vila Formosa station and the bus terminal and the Rapadura complex with a base for train maintenance and parking; five ventilation shafts with diameters between 12 and 15 meters and the ballastless track superstructure.
Other projects in Brazil

In the Sâo Paulo metro, Sacyr has already successfully executed other contracts such as the stations of Vila Prudente, Estación Vila Uniao, Vila Tolstoy, Camilo Haddad and Sao Lucas.

At present, it is building the new Jardin Colonial station of the 15 line- Plata, of the Sâo Paulo Metro. And in Fortaleza, it is working on the city’s East metro line.

 Today Sacyr signed an agreement with the Generation & Talent Observatory to become part of its Business Network, a working body that aims to generate a network of knowledge and good practices to help companies foster the implementation of active policies for generational diversity.  

In addition, Sacyr has signed the Code of Principles of Generational Diversity promoted by the Generation & Talent Observatory. By joining, the company recognizes the favorable development of people management based on equal opportunities completely irrespective of age, non-discrimination and respect for generational diversity. 56 companies and entities have now adhered to this Code. 

The agreement was signed by Elena Cascante, president of the 50plus Think Tank Association and managing partner of the Generation & Talent Observatory, and Ángeles Alcázar, managing partner. Miguel Heras, Sacyr Corporate General Manager, explained that the multinational joins this network of companies as part of its “commitment to talent and diversity.” “These are core values for our company and through them we create an inclusive work environment, where diversity is the driving force to achieve the best talent for Sacyr,” he said. 

Currently, the Observatory's Business Network is working on an analysis of intergenerational health and well-being. Previously, it analyzed the talent of different generations and in a subsequent work cycle, intergenerational leadership. Both works have culminated in two scientifically rigorous studies: "Diagnosis of Generational Diversity,” carried out in collaboration with the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, and “Intergenerational Leadership,” with the European University. 
 

The Másfamilia Foundation has awarded Sacyr the EFR certification in work-life balance, which recognizes it as a Family-Friendly Company. The certification constitutes an endorsement of the company's work in promoting policies and measures that foster well-being and balance between work, family and personal life of its employees. This certification is supported by the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare and is recognized as Good Practices by the United Nations. 

At an event held in Madrid, Manuel Manrique, the chairman of Sacyr, received the certificate from Antonio Trueba, the president of Másfamilia. 

Receiving the EFR certificate validates Sacyr’s commitment to the implementation and management of policies and measures in favor of work-life balance as a priority in its business strategy.  
 
External audit 

To obtain the certificate, the company passed an external audit in which an analysis was made of all the measures being implemented in the company in relation to quality in employment, equal opportunities, spatial-temporal flexibility, personal and professional development and family support.    “We are very proud to receive the EFR certificate, which demonstrates our commitment to the professionals who are part of the company. The talent of our staff is the future of the group. Therefore, it is a priority for us to commit to measures that enable our staff to work in an environment that supports a balance between family and work life,” said Manuel Manrique.  

For his part, the president of the Másfamilia Foundation noted that “Sacyr meets the highest, most rigorous standards in its commitment to people as per the EFR certificate. Furthermore, it is a long-term commitment as form of continuous improvement”.  
 
More than 90 measures 

Sacyr's EFR project has implemented more than 90 work-life balance measures in order to strengthen and meet the present and future needs of the people who make up the company.  

Among the measures now in place, Sacyr employees give high ratings to projects such as flexitime, the implementation of the Sports Club, which encourages participation in sports, and the company’s Equality Plan.  

In addition, Sacyr has a digital training platform, My Virtual Point, which allows the group's employees to access online training from any location at any time. 

The EFR certificate, awarded by Másfamilia Foundation, is a unique management tool in the world that provides a simple and effective methodology to enable work-life balance processes in companies. Likewise, it also fosters support for equal opportunities and inclusion, based on current and binding legislation and collective bargaining, such that EFR companies carry out voluntary self-regulation in this area. More than 750 companies have been certified in more than 20 countries.

Sacyr Ingeniería e Infraestructuras has won a new contract in the State of Texas (USA) to build an 8.2 mile (13.2 km) bypass of the US59 road, in the town of Diboll. The contract amounts to 142 million dollars (128 million euros), and the client is the Texas Department of Transport (TxDOT).  

The new bypass includes the construction of a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction, plus 28 structures to cross the intersections with other local roads and different watercourses.  

Last year, Sacyr was awarded a contract for the reconstruction and expansion of the IH35E interstate highway in Texas, with a budget amounting to 117 million dollars (102 million euros).  
 
Projects in the USA 

Sacyr's construction division moved into the United States in 2018 with several road construction contracts in Florida. The company currently manages two projects in Texas and five in Florida, with a total backlog of $640 million (575 million euros).  

Entry into and expansion in the USA is one of the objectives of Sacyr as part of its 20152020 Strategic Plan.

Sacyr acogió ayer en su sede corporativa de Madrid el sorteo de la Liga Sacyr ASOBAL para la temporada 2020/2021.

El presidente de Sacyr, Manuel Manrique, destacó el "valor de nuestras manos" como slogan de la máxima competición de balonmano en España y de Sacyr, ya que aúna valores como el esfuerzo, talento, unión, experiencia, futuro y compromiso que también representan a Sacyr.

El presidente de ASOBAL, Adolfo Aragonés, reiteró su agradecimiento a Sacyr por seguir creyendo en el proyecto ASOBAL: “Sabemos que no son tiempos fáciles para las empresas y, por ello, queremos poner de relieve la importancia capital que tiene, para nuestros clubes, contar con el apoyo y compromiso de una multinacional como Sacyr”. 

Los clubes conocieron su camino en la máxima categoría del balonmano masculino español en el sorteo donde se supo el orden de los rivales a los que se enfrentarán jornada tras jornada hasta completar las 34 fechas del campeonato nacional de la temporada 2020/2021.

Los dos responsables de extraer las bolas en el sorteo y, con ello, decidir el destino de los clubes de ASOBAL fueron José María Uceda y Azucena Vergara, TIGAs del Hospital Infanta Cristina (Parla, Madrid). Ellos fueron la cara visible de la multitud de héroes que han luchado y siguen luchando, en primera línea, para ganarle la batalla al COVID-19.
 

Sacyr Ingeniería e Infraestructuras, en consorcio con GyM, se ha adjudicado el paquete 2.2. del Proyecto de Ampliación del Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez para la construcción de la segunda pista de aterrizaje.

El alcance de este paquete de trabajo incluye la construcción de la segunda pista de aterrizaje, de 3.480 metros de longitud, en un área total de más de 600 hectáreas. Además, se desarrollará una red de más de 10 kilómetros de nuevas calles de rodaje, luces de aproximación, sistemas de balizamiento, ayudas a la navegación, sistemas de media tensión y equipos de control y vigilancia.

Los trabajos se iniciarán a partir del próximo mes de septiembre y la segunda pista comenzará a operar a finales de 2022. El proyecto se desarrollará con una estrategia de mitigación bajo nuevos estándares de salud y seguridad ante la Covid-19.

Con esta nueva adjudicación, Sacyr cuenta con 19 contratos aeroportuarios en todo el mundo. En el Perú, ya ha llevado a cabo la rehabilitación del aeropuerto de Chiclayo.
