Sacyr puts two new interchanges into operation to improve AP-46 connections
28/12/2021Sacyr has put two new interchanges into operation, between the MA-20 and A-7 highways, which improve connections with the AP-46 Malaga-Las Pedrizas highway. The new interchanges will reduce travel times between Malaga, its metropolitan area, the Costa del Sol, and the Guadalhorce Valley.
The concessionaire, Guadalcesa (owned by Aberdeen Infrastructure, Mirova, and Sacyr Concesiones), working in conjunction with Spain’s Ministry of Development, has promoted the construction of these new infrastructures with an investment of 24 million euros.
The interchange between the MA-20 and the AP-46 has involved building two new slip roads between the MA-20 and the A-7, building an overpass over the MA-20, two 128 m elevated roads, for each of the 2 slip roads running parallel to the existing elevated highway, and the construction of 8 new toll booths to make a total of 26, thereby improving user service.
This construction project involves providing a direct connection from the MA-20 ring road to the Malaga ‘Hiperronda’ ring road (A-7), which will cut travel times between Malaga and the AP-46 highway. It will also help to significantly reduce congestion on the MA-20 by improving mobility in the surrounding area.

We add a new hospital to our portfolio in Chile
16/11/2021The Quillota-Petorca hospital is the first in the country with the CES sustainable building standard.
We have met a new challenge in Chile. The Quillota-Petorca Biprovincial Hospital has a total built surface area of 74,221 m2, six stories high and one basement, structured in concrete frames.
More than 300,000 residents of the regions of Quillota and Petorca will benefit from this highly complex hospital, which will have 282 beds, 3 wards, 42 ICUs and ITUs.
This hospital is the first in Chile to obtain the CES sustainable building standard seal of certification, certifying its quality in areas like innovation, water saving, energy efficiency and waste management.
On November 19, Sebastián Piñera, the President of Chile, led the hospital’s inauguration ceremony and highlighted that "it is a great joy and a source of great excitement to be able to fulfill today a commitment that we solemnly assumed: to give these provinces the hospital of the category that they deserve and need", and recognized Sacyr for the construction of the hospital within the established deadline.Anti-seismic system
The health center has a sophisticated anti-seismic system with 350 isolators and sliders that convert the entire area into an isolated surface that would be able to withstand an earthquake of 9.5 on the Richter scale. In addition, the hospital has an independent electrical connection and an independent water supply that could provide service for up to 72 hours.Hospitals
This is the second high-complexity hospital we have delivered in Chile, where we are building five more, that total more than 2,400 beds and almost 629,000 m2, including the hospitals of Antofagasta, already in operation (in a P3) Buin Paine (also in a P3), Alto Hospicio, Sótero del Río, Cordillera and Villarrica. -
Sacyr receives the triple seal "Calculo, Reduzco y Compenso" for the first time
10/11/2021After having received the dual “Calculo-Reduzco” seal for three consecutive years, Sacyr obtains the “Calculo, Reduzco y Compenso” seal for the first time for compensating part of its carbon footprint through a CO2 absorption project.
This distinction, awarded by the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, recognizes Sacyr as an organization that, apart from calculating its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reduces them and goes a step farther by compensating part of its carbon footprint.
The absorption project responsible for this compensation and backed by Sacyr, takes place in Burgos, Spain. This project seeks to revitalize a deforested zone, with a high desertification risk, by eliminating erosion risks, increasing biodiversity, and improving the structure and organic matter of the soil.
In total, this project calls for the planting of more than 23 hectares of autochthonous, resilient species that will absorb more than 6,000 tons of CO2.
Sacyr is firmly committed to sustainability through its corporate 2021-2025 Strategic Plan and the Sacyr Sustainable Plan, in which the company sets its goals for preventing climate change and protecting the environment and communities where it develops its activities.
Emission compensation, apart from being beneficial to the environment, offers companies great opportunities for growth, development, and competitiveness, and is increasingly valued and requested by all stakeholders. -
